A lesson in Dallas nightlife these days
I'm posting this more for all of the touring bands who write me confused and frustrated because they can't seem to find shows in Deep Ellum anymore. I always refer them to other areas around town like Lower Greenville and Denton, and most of them have found homes for their shows, but I'm always at a loss for words on explaining to them what the situation in Deep Ellum is like these days.
So for all of you who have asked, and I haven't been able to communicate it quite right.. I'm thinking maybe these pictures will do it.
These are from last night, Friday the 13th, a big night in Deep Ellum.. Most of the Ellum clubs were having local goth, industrial, noise, punk, and metal shows.
Anyone who's seen the MySpace ads for the new TV series Rollergirls knows, Roller Derby is a big thing in Texas these days. It started in Austin, but its in Dallas now, too. Its a movement.
These pictures depict what happened when a Dallas roller girl got stopped on a Deep Ellum street for roller skating across the street.
Here she is waiting for her ticket.

There are no pictures of him slamming her face on the car, but here he is choking her.

Cuffing her

One of her friends, upset

Her blood on the street
